Pooled Funds

Nexus also offers a family of pooled funds which are ideal where circumstances do not necessitate segregated management.

Nexus North American Pooled Fund family

The Nexus North American Pooled Fund family is internally managed by Nexus and includes the Equity Fund, Balanced Fund and Income Fund.

Our pooled funds share Nexus’ investment management approach and are designed for the long-term investor. They are all RRSP/RRIF eligible.

  • The North American Equity Fund is a growth-oriented fund that is focused on Canadian and U.S. stocks.
  • The North American Balanced Fund is invested more conservatively in a mix of stocks from Canada and the U.S. and investment-grade bonds.
  • The North American Income Fund has at least 80% of its portfolio invested in investment-grade fixed income securities, with the balance in other income-oriented securities.

International Equity Fund

The International Equity Fund offers international equity exposure and diversification. It is managed by a carefully-selected external manager with a strong track record.

Many clients ask Nexus for advice about investing in international markets. We have conducted an extensive search for a high-quality, low-cost international manager and are pleased to offer clients the opportunity to invest in the JPMorgan Equity International Investment Trust ("EQIT"). EQIT is an EAFE Plus pooled fund (Europe, Australasia and the Far East, plus a small component in emerging markets). Given EQIT's exclusive focus outside Canada and the U.S., it is the ideal complement to our own investment expertise.

JPMorgan has a long-established international investment franchise. With investment research personnel in 12 cities outside North America, and using a "bottom-up" investment style consistent with our own, the JPMorgan team has consistently out-performed their benchmark index.

The pools offer broad diversification in a cost-effective structure and can be combined to create a custom-made portfolio to meet the specific needs of each of our pooled fund clients.

Clients invested in the pools receive regular reports from Nexus and the third-party custodian, and are invited to attend several presentations each year. On a quarterly basis, Nexus sends each client a report containing their portfolio summary and investment performance, a copy of our Investment Outlook, and Nexus Notes, our quarterly newsletter.

The typical minimum client family portfolio for our pooled funds is $500,000. Quarterly reports for the pools are available in the Publications section.
