Inside Nexus: Women & Wealth

Last month we hosted the latest installment in our Women & Wealth event series. At Nexus, we believe in the power of financial literacy, and our series is designed to empower women through improving their financial knowledge. By asking women to join us in the discussion about various financial topics, we’re able to engage and help our clients to better understand their own financial situations and what they can do to meet their personal goals.

Our first session, Back to Basics, focused on the fundamentals of investments and financial planning.  We took a building block approach to our presentation and covered a wide range of topics including: types of investments, the meaning of risk tolerance and the effects of taxes. The session was meant to be an introduction to the world of investments and financial planning.

Our next session made a deeper dive into estate planning, wealth preservation, and the family dynamics which can arise when transferring capital to the next generation. The presentation was called Leaving a Legacy and was facilitated by Dianne White and Alex Jemetz. As a topic that regularly comes up in client meetings, our aim was to consider wealth transfer strategies and the associated intricacies that come with leaving the family legacy for future generations. We want our clients to think about the path they are forging for their family. Personally, I found this session extremely useful in preparing for my own family’s legacy conversation!

Navigating through today’s complex investment landscape can leave investors looking for clarity. The most recent session we held, Navigating the Investment Landscape, took a more in-depth look at investments through stock selection, the role of fixed income, and the relationship between risk and return. This has been the most technical session in our series and was facilitated by Alex Jemetz and the newest member of the investment team, Alana Buckley.

I came to Nexus with a marketing background concentrated in the professional services industry, so I’ve found each of our sessions very beneficial to me personally. Our aim with each installment is to create a solid foundation of knowledge for our clients that they can build upon and, ultimately, improve their financial acumen. I’m proud to be a part of the Nexus team, where our investment managers and planners are eager to engage, educate and empower women to improve their financial knowledge and understanding.

If you’d like to attend one of our sessions, please connect with your Nexus relationship manager, or send me an email at NW
